I follow The National Crime Museum on Twitter and from time to time they have various contests. Yesterday they had a contest where you could win two free passes to the Museum. This was perfect because a friend and I are planning on making a trip down to DC to visit. This was the question:
What year was Ted Bundy sentenced to death?
The answer is 1979. July 31st to be exact. I tweeted by answer and waited for the winners to be announced. A few hours later they post the winner and this was the “winning answer”
“He was sentenced to death and died in the electric chair in 1989.”
Excuse me? The year he was sentenced and the year he was actually executed are two different things and that’s what I told them. That’s when they tried telling me that he was sentenced and put to death in the same year and they provided a link to their website that stated this. That’s when I responded with a bit of snark:
He was arrested in 1978 for the FL murders. It took 10 years to sentence and execute?
I supplied them with a link to the correct information (that you find on every crime/Bundy website out there) and waited to hear back. Finally around 9:30pm last night they responded and told me I was indeed correct and to email them my information and they would send me a free pass.
I’m pleased. It wasn’t about winning. I’d visit the Musuem even if I didn’t win. I was about supplying the right information. I mean, you’re the NATIONAL Crime Musuem. Shouldn’t you know this stuff?

Ha ha! Good for you for putting them right. I did not know about the crime museum otherwise I would definitely have visited them when I was in DC.
