About

You've found the personal blog of a 20-something, country music listen', "Dexter" watchin', animal lovin' girl from the lovely state of Maryland. Of course there's much more to me and if you stick around you'll see.

Before & After

I think I mentioned awhile ago that I was moving my bedroom upstairs since my sister moved out. It’s a smaller room but it’s a better shape if that makes any sense. Since the room is smaller I couldn’t use the same dresser. Luckily the room already has a closet that my dad built. I looked around at a few dressers/chests but couldn’t find anything that I liked. Well, I liked a few but they were too much or I didn’t feel the drawers were deep enough. That’s when my mom suggested refinishing the dresser had that once belonged to my great-grandparents. It was in decent shape and with some paint and extra details it could be awesome. The drawers were deep and still worked. Here’s the before.

I had the room painted a shade of gray and went with black and a bright green as an accent. The molding in the room was painted black and I had the dresser painted black as well. It pained my dad to do it but it’s how I wanted it. We then went to Home Depot where I picked out some trim that we would add to the dresser. The trim would be painted the green. Instead of talking about it here’s the after:

You can see the color of the walls too. I swear I thought I took pictures of the room once everything was put together but I guess I didn’t. I’ll keep looking but for now enjoy!

Gotta Save The $$

I need to stop wasting money on lunch during the week. I eat out pretty much everyday and around here that can equal $10 a day depending on where you go. If it’s fast food I can get away with $6 depending on what and where.

This needs to stop! It’s the biggest waste of money yet the easiest thing to change. Starting this week I’m going to be bagging it. This could save me around $200 a month, give or take. That’s a pretty good chunk of change. That could be used to pay off credit cards. It could be an extra $200 that goes towards paying off the Jeep or it could sit in my savings.

Plus it might help me lose some weight too!

The Black Eyed Peas!

On Tuesday I went downtown to see The Black Eyed Peas. My friend and I had General Admission/Floor Seats. I was kind of dreading it since I’m short and I don’t really like GA concerts but we were there early and managed to get right next to the catwalk. I had a great view except for the super tall guy to my left who managed to block the middle of the main stage with his tallness. I mean, really? He couldn’t have stood behind his girlfriend instead of next too? Whatever.

The concert was great and they put on an awesome show! I would totally go see Fergie on her own. I have no idea how she dances around in those shoes and costumes though! My feet were killing me from just standing around. They were on stage for about an hour and a half. I liked that each member of the group had their own little time on stage. Will.I.Am and Fergie had more time than the other too but that’s to be expected I think. Anyway, here are some pictures from the night!

This is a very small sample. I took over 200 pictures. You can see the rest here! Enjoy.

Back To Life

Now that SDCC is over it’s time to get back to normal life.

I’m turning my focus back to trying to pay off my car early. I did the math to see how much I’d have earn via Amazon to help make that happen and that was a bit depressing of course. I do pretty decent with Amazon but not that decent. The good news is though that all of my money from Amazon goes right into my savings account. Since I don’t have any vacations coming up I won’t be touching that money anytime soon. I’ll let it all sit in there until a decent amount and then I’ll send it off Chrysler.

In other news we found out my sister is having a boy. In the word of my friend I’m going to be an Uncle! I’m excited to buy little Orioles & Ravens stuff. I’ve actually been good and I’ve only bought two things. She was told her due date is December 5th. I’ve already come to terms with the fact that if that happens my birthday is pretty much obsolete. That’s why I’ve been pushing my mom to buy me a Kindle to make up for lack of future birthday celebrations. I think I’m thisclose to making it happen.

What else? We now have DVR in the house. Yes, I know. We’re probably some of the last people to jump on board. I’m more excited about having the LOGO channel though where I can watch “Buffy” and remember a time when vampires didn’t sparkle and actually killed people. Remember those days?

I’m A Bad Blogger

More like lazy but whatever.

Let’s see. I’ve already announced I’m going to be an Aunt. The baby is due December 5th. My birthday is December 4th.

On June 12th my Aunt & Uncle had to put Jake the dog down. He was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago and they made the choice to have him put to sleep after he started having issues. He would’ve been 10 in August.

I’m still playing softball and out team is actually good. We came in 2nd last season and only lost 2 games.

In only 20 days I’ll be heading out to San Diego for Comic Con. I am beyond excited and nervous. I already feel overwhelmed and I’m not even there yet. It looks like most of the shows I like will be there including Burn Notice, Bones, Psych & Dexter.

I’m moving. Don’t get too excited. I’m just moving from the bedroom downstairs to the bedroom that’s upstairs. Hopefully I’ll be able to move my stuff up there over the weekend.

That’s about it for now. When I get the urge to write more I will.

Just a reminder!

Just a little reminder that I’m an Amazon Associate! I’m sure most of you know what that means but incase you don’t…If someone uses my Amazon link/search box when making a purchase, I earn a small % of the sale.

I know some of you own the Kindle and I just wanted to let everyone know that associates now earn a percentage on Kindle books sales! We didn’t receive anything for the longest time but now we earn anywhere from 3% – 8%.

My goal is to try and average $250 or more a month. I have it setup in a way that all my earnings from Amazon go straight to my ING savings account. After July I plan on not touching the money. I’m trying to save up enough money to put down on a house. I figure between saving up from Amazon plus my tax refund and other money I have laying around, maybe by the end of next year I can make it happen.

I <3 My Reworked Burn Notice Shirt!

I failed to mention it here but I sent off my oversized Burn Notice shirt to SmarmyClothes to have it destroyed and put back together into something cute. Now I could’ve tried to have done this myself but I have no skills when it comes to something like this. I left it to the professional.

I am beyond excited that I did! Here is what I sent her:

and this is what I got back:

Isn’t it amazing?! I’m beyond thrilled with it. I can’t wait to rock it at San Diego Comic Con this year! Alexis was great to work with. She sent me a few sketches with different ideas and explained to me what could be done and what couldn’t since the image pretty much took up the whole shirt. One idea jumped out at me but I asked if something could be tweeked and she said no problem and explained what would have to be done in order to make it happen. I told her I trusted her since I have no idea how to do anything like this or what goes into it. Plus I had looked at her website and Etsy shop and felt she was the one to take Burn Notice to a new level.

Now it wasn’t “cheap,” I think it was around $65, but it was 100% worth it. Now instead of something I can only wear to bed I have something that I can rock 24/7. It fits perfectly! I can’t wait to order more of her stuff.

I Love My New Sony!

I recently bought the new Sony DSC-TX7 and I love it! It’s already passed one major test which is a concert. On the 19th I saw Dierks Bentley and took my new little toy with me. After playing around with settings I finally found the perfect one. The setting I used is called Backlight Correction HDR and it is amazing. Don’t believe? Here are a few pictures of awesomeness:

I’ve never had pictures this clear at a concert before, even before the digital camera age. I’m really impressed with the new setting! Another new feature that I’m sure you’ve heard about is the iSweep Panorama mode. I played around with it at the baseball game yesterday and here’s how it turned out:

It’s not perfect. You can see where it cut the vendors arm near the end but I’m sure that had to do with the fact he was walking at the time. I think it’s pretty awesome though and would be great for pictures of landscapes and cities. I’m looking forward to using it in San Diego and wish I had it when I went to Chicago.

I really love my new camera and I’m so glad I bought it. If you’re in the market for a new pocket sized friend I recommend checking out the Sony DSC-TX7. I bought the “Blue” model but it’s almost black, incase you’re wondering what it looks like in person.

Wedding Post, Finally!

Before I get to the wedding stuff, if you want to hear/see about my trip to Chicago you can do so over at my travel blog. Thanks!

Yes, I’m just now posting about the wedding which happened on May 1st but as you can imagine things have been a bit crazy. The weather was perfect and I’d say the day went off without a hitch. Of course the morning was a bit stressful as we pulled up to the house after getting our hair & make up done at the same time as the photographer was arriving. It happens. After my sister finished getting dressed we then realized we couldn’t find her jewelry. I saved the day of course and found it in one of the many bags that was floating around the house. It seemed like everything had it’s own bag!

After everyone was dressed we did a few pictures at the house both inside and outside. The limo was upgraded the day of the wedding to a stretch Expedition that had a hell of a time getting around our small streets. The driver was a pro though and he made his way to the Church without any issues. The actual wedding seemed like a blur. It wasn’t a full Mass ceremony which was nice because the shoes I had to wear killed my feet! I’m pretty sure I’m going to have a scar on my right foot from those shoes but that’s the price of beauty.

The reception was fun and everyone had a good time. I had to do my Maid of Honor speech and was nervous as well. I made it through it though without crying. Instead of crying I laughed and regained myself and continued on. That’s how I roll. We only had the hall until 6 and we made use of the short time we had. Everyone was up and dancing. It was great to see friends and family we don’t get to see that often.

Anyway, enough rambling. Here are some pictures!

Sony DSC-T20 For Sale

I bought a new camera over the weekend (Squee!) which means I’m selling my old one. There’s nothing wrong with it as I just used it in Chicago while on vacation. You’ll get the camera, 1GB memory card, charger and the USB upload cables. It’s a Sony Cybershot DSC-T20 and you can find the auction here. I priced it based on other auctions and think it’s pretty fair. I’m just trying to get something to help pay for the new one. If you have any questions just ask. Thanks!
